Tentative Bi-monthly CEDS Meeting Schedule, 2026

The bi-monthly CEDS Meetings for 2026 are as follows. Any changes will be posted here as soon as possible. All meetings will be held in person at the Michigan Works! Service Center board room in Marquette with a virtual option available. Links to the virtual meetings will be enclosed in the invitation email and the agendas. All meeting times are for Thursdays, from 10:00-11:30am ET, unless otherwise noted. Check this page for agendas and past recordings.

Updates

Meeting #5 September 17, 2026

The Central UP Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Committee, combined with the Regional Housing Partnership (RHP) Committee, met for the fifth time in 2026 on September 17th. We were joined by Tim Roman and Don Browne of the Ironworkers Local 8 with the announcement of their successful EDA grant application awarding them $1 million to expand skilled trades training! We were also joined by Ryan Carrig of CUPPAD for an update on the almost complete Materials Management Plan for the central 6 counties in the UP. Chelsie Wilkinson, Executive Director at Room at the Inn gave a presentation about homeless awareness and the efforts being undertaken by the UP Shelter Network to combine strategies and share resources. Other events and opportunities were discussed including the upcoming P3MQT Marquette County Economic Exchange, and the soon to be available funding from MSHDA for the MI Neighborhood 4.0 Program.

Meeting #4 July 16, 2026

The Central UP Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Committee, combined with the Regional Housing Partnership (RHP) Committee, met for the fourth time of 2026 for some training and grant updates. The Regional Housing Partnership shared some legislative updates and events.

Jacob Boss, senior vice president, with Plante Moran's Living Forward division joined the meeting to present on statewide aging, care, and housing trends. Ryan Soucy presented on a proposed Eldercare Housing Support Infrastructure and Workforce Capacity Study, a collaborative project for the entire UP that seeks to understand the current and future environment for elder care.
